Our New Normal

I'm really getting into the swing of things and getting use to this new normal as we all stay home. I've partnered up with Samsung for this blog post to share some of the things I've been doing to stay home, stay safe and stay healthy.

I love my new morning routine.

The first thing I look forward to doing after I get out of bed is unloading our Samsung dishwasher. I know a lot of people start the day by making the bed, but I swear, it's unloading the dishwasher that signifies a productive day for me. This may seem very strange, but it makes so much sense to me because it means the dirty dishes don't wait in the sink after you're done with it. You just pop it into your now empty dishwasher! See, there is method to the madness.

Since we've been given the luxury of time because we don't have a commute anymore, I've been trying a lot of different yummy drinks to start off the morning instead of the usual caffeine run. I pretend to be my own barista and I've tried so many yummy drink recipes.

I even hopped on that whipped coffee trend that has taken over the Internet by storm. It only takes 4 ingredients and a lot of elbow grease but I consider that my arm work out for the day, so it's really efficient if you think about it.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 2 tbsp hot water

Directions:

  1. Mix until it's fluffy (This is the work out I promised you!)

  2. Pour a glass of milk over ice

  3. Add a dollop of your whipped coffee

  4. And enjoy!

Come lunch time, K and I are ready for a break. We really look forward to meal times because it is when we get to cook together. I don't think I've had so many home cooked meals since I've moved out of my parents' house. I'm so grateful to have a great Samsung Oven to try out all the new recipes.

We are keeping things fun by having food themed weeks. Last week we made a list of childhood favourite meals and we recreated them. I had to call my mom a few times to tweak the recipes but it was such a fun bonding experience and a trip down memory lane for us.

This week we decided to perfect the art of a chocolate souffle. I have spent a lot of time staring lovingly into my Samsung Oven willing my souffle to rise. And I think we finally have it perfected!

Next week, I'm making creme brulee! I can't wait!! (K picked the chocolate souffle for this week.)

After every lunch and dinner we go for a walk together to stay healthy and active. I've been cataloging the signs of spring by taking pictures and short videos of our walk everyday. It's like a fun and hopeful game of what you spot that's different from yesterday.

I know that during this time, we are all adjusting to our new normal. But I've come to love the little routines that we have created to make staying at home safe, healthy and fun.

Thanks Samsung for partnering with me for this blog post.

And as always, thank YOU for reading!

Love,

W
